Registration is now open for this year’s ASU International Summer Intensive. This seminar features five days of instruction by Mitsugi Saotome Shihan and other ASU senior instructors. This is a rare opportunity for Aikido practitioners of any rank or affiliation to train under one of the few uchi-deshi of O-Sensei. Saotome Shihan will be teaching every day.
“The techniques of the Way of Peace change constantly; every encounter is unique, and the appropriate response should emerge naturally. Today’s techniques will be different tomorrow. Do not get caught up with the form and appearance of a challenge. The Art of Peace has no form — it is the study of the spirit”.
This international event is a great opportunity to train in Aikido, make friends, and strengthen our sense of community by learning from each other. Hosted by Aikido Shobukan Dojo, this special gasshuku (extended training) will focus on intensive training and the connection to the next generation of Aikido instructors. It is a sincere effort to learn from one of one of the founder’s most prominent students and talented masters of Aikido in the world as well as train with some excellent instructors.
“Progress comes to those who train and train; reliance on secret techniques will get you nowhere.”
Training intensively together throughout the week will allow us to forge the bonds of friendship and continue to develop our martial skills. In this way, the caliber of both teacher and student will continue to grow, reinforcing the foundation for our future and the future of Aikido.
“Those who are possessed by nothing possess everything.”
